FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We started bringing the berry powders to the UK about seven years ago and because of introducing a completely new and innovative product to the market, we have come across loads of customer feedback and interesting questions.
Here we have collected the most common questions together to help you understand this new discovery and get the most out of your berry powders!
-
Containing just berries, our berry powder is completely free from gluten, lactose, soy and nuts. If you can eat fresh berries, you can eat berry powder!
-
Our berry powder isn’t intended as a complete replacement for fresh berries, but rather an alternative, convenient way of consuming them. Even so, you’ll struggle to find an equivalent quantity of good quality, fresh berries for less than the cost of one of our sachets of powder. And you certainly won’t find any that are grown quite so organically! One 70g bag is made with over 700 grams of fresh, foraged berries!
### DIETS SUITABLE?
-
Whether you’re vegetarian or vegan, or on a paleo or raw food diet - berry powder is suitable for you. Sea buckthorn is in fact particularly beneficial for vegetarians or vegans due to its high concentration of vitamin B12 - a vitamin which usually can only be found in meat.
-
As a rule of thumb, 1 teaspoon of berry powder is equivalent to a handful of fresh berries. With that in mind, we’d recommend 1 to 2 teaspoons if you’re simply adding them to your porridge, cereal, smoothie or yoghurt. There is no easier way to get one of your 5 a day!
-
Quite simply, berry powder tastes exactly like the pure, wild berries that it’s ground from. As our powder is in a 10:1 ratio of fresh berries to powder, the flavour is highly concentrated and you usually only need a teaspoon or two to add a tasty kick to your food.

Wild Scandinavian berries are packed with all sorts of health benefits. To mention a few, they contain various vitamins, high antioxidant content, fibre and nutrients. Those are beneficial for healthy skin, hair, immunity, and even metabolism. Find out all about the berries health benefits on the health benefits page.

This is a controversial topic, as there are SO MANY ways in which you can use berry powder. The most common is to sprinkle it into any one of porridge, yoghurt, cereal or smoothies to add a nutritious, tasty kick. You could get your creative juices flowing by incorporating the powder into other culinary delights - for example cheesecakes, chia puddings or homemade chocolate. Berry powder is also a unique, healthy and flavoursome way of decorating food too! If you have a moment, head over to our recipes page to get a flavour (no pun intended!) of the potential of berry powder.
-
Our berry powder is probably the most organic food you can buy! The berries are harvested from near-untouched Arctic forests, and are grown completely naturally without the use of any of the pesticides that you’ll find on berries you can buy from the supermarket. Clean, unpolluted and as pure as the Arctic breeze.
-
As long as you would eat fresh berries you can eat the powder. As a matter of fact, berry powders are high in beneficial nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants. But if you have any doubt about eating berries, you should consult your doctor.
-
Absolutely not, and there never will be. Our berry powder is 100% berries, 100% of the time.
-
Our sachets are resealable; so once you’ve opened one, you’ll have up to an amazing 16 weeks to finish the powder within. It’s so good though that we’re sure you won’t be keeping them around for that long anyway.
-
We've gone through quite many different packaging materials to find one that is air tight and keeps the powder fresh. We have had cardboard tubes and gone through compostable pouches (which unfortunately started breaking down months too early). We keep our eyes constantly open to find the best way to pack our powder the most sustainable way. If you know about new eco-friendly packaging material that we haven't heard about yet, please let us know. We are also planning on refill service, would you be up for that?
-
The first stage in creating our berry powder is to hand-pick wild berries from some of the freshest, cleanest forests in the world in Finnish Lapland. They’re then taken to be gently heated (below 40°C to retain all of that valuable nutritional content) until they’re completely dry, before being finely ground and packaged into our handy resealable sachets. That’s it - we don’t add anything else to the mix. It’s just berries!
-
As a rough guide, you can multiply the weight of the sachet by 10 to work out how many fresh berries went into making it. So a 30g sachet contains around 300g of fresh berries and 70g contains over 700g of fresh berries. Not bad for something you can keep in your cupboard for months!

That’s it - we don’t add anything else to the mix. It’s just berries! So we air dry the berries!
MOST IMPORTANTLY
We are not intending to compete with fresh berries, this is just another really convenient way of eating them. We often mix both fresh and powdered berries in our breakfast bowls. The powdered form is such an easy and convenient way to enjoy berries when fresh berries are not available or in season.
Why would I eat powdered berries instead of fresh berries?
Berry powder is just super convenient! Fresh berries tend to last only a few days to a week in the fridge before they start to deteriorate in quality, whereas our powder can last up to 16 weeks in your cupboard (which is almost 20x longer in terms of shelf-life than fresh berries)! It’s also much better for the environment with 300g of fresh berries fitting into one, small 30g bag.
Why are wild arctic berries better for you than industrially grown supermarket-sold berries?
It’s often said that Mother Nature knows best, and it’s indisputable that wild berries flourish in places that are pure, clean and unpolluted. They thrive under forest canopies, growing close to the ground and only using what nature provides to help them along the way - the rain from the sky, the nutrients in the soil and the sun’s rays. This makes them an incredibly organic choice of berry in comparison to the variety sold in supermarkets. Farmed berries are pampered and grown for profit; sprayed with pesticides to ensure they don’t get ruined by insects, selectively bred to look bigger and more inviting to the eye and to survive being transported long distances in plastic containers. They’re also often watery and lack much taste in comparison to wild berries, which are concentrated, offer powerful flavour and as any berry-lover knows - turn your tongue whatever colour the berry is if you eat enough! Studies have also shown that raw wild blueberries contain up to twice as many antioxidants as the equivalent farmed variety - so it’s not just taste, it’s nutrition too!
